Regrets and resolutions

We're exiting 2011 and entering the world of 2012. The one thing I'm dreading hearing is "Oh, wow, this year went so fast!" No, it did not go fast. As a matter of fact it went as long as the two thousand and ten previous years. I feel as though people just say that for no reason at all. Going into the new year we mustn't regret any of the mistakes we've made or wrong decisions and move on like it's just another day. Set out your goals and resolutions but don't be too hard on yourself if you don't tick them all off the bucket list - because January 1st 2012 is just another day...
I hope everyone has a joyful new years and I can't wait to blog and share things with you all around the world in the new year.
I'm going away today and will be back on the first, so until then have a great year!

Caffeine hit

After a long day shopping in the city I came across 'Plantation', a unique concept for a coffee stop in the new food court at Melbourne Central. They have an unusual way of blending and preparing their coffee, it is quite an entertaining method to watch them make through the viewing booth. Organic as well, so go give 'Plantation' a try!

What you give and what you get

I've been eager to share a few of the gifts I received this Christmas. I found that people know my taste and preferences more than I ever expected them too which surprised me. A lot of the things I got are classics and things I'd be able to use almost forever - good leather quality too. I also recognized after uploading these pictures that they all match with one another. The hues and style of the bags, accessories, nail polishes and clothing. On the boxing day sales yesterday I managed to find one decent buy (considering they mostly sell outdated crap) which is the grey knit from Mossman. I had been eyeing it off for some time and seeing it in the 'golden ticket sale' for 70% off gave me the perfect excuse to treat myself.

Yellow leather sling bag - Mimco
Gold/Green combined metallic nail polish - Chanel
Choker necklace - Mocha
Beige leather tote - Mocha
Bangle combination - Mocha
Knitted turtle neck cropped tank - Mossman

I hope everyone had an enjoying and fulfilling Christmas this year and will hopefully have a happy new years!

Polar opposites

I am aware that these nail-polish textures aren't a 'new' thing but I am enthralled by these coatings. How is it even possible to do such a thing? I have so many aimless thoughts. Whenever I look at a digital imagine of these, deep into my thoughts I can guess exactly what it would feel like. The grease of the shine and the matte plaster texture of the black. The only problem I can envision myself going through is the toiling when having to master the perfect painted nail. I am totally ready to break away from my ordinary liquors and induce myself into these polishes.

Courtyard wilderness

Breaking away from high defined and illuminating colour and settling down for more subtle tones and textures I put together this outfit for a rare summers day in december here in Melbourne. As in my recent post with the Sass & Bide bright pink and orange dress, this shirt also has the same cut. Short at the front and long at the back although not the typical 'mullet' shape. The animal printed shorts are softer than baby's skin and are comfortably worn due to their stretch material. You can dress both of these pieces up or down which makes them ever so versatile. The shoes are made well in Brazil and worn well with any basic outfit for a hint of interest. The colour makes them easy to match with most of the items in my wardrobe.
Double chain ring - Green With Envy
Shirt - Dion Lee from Green With Envy
Shorts - Topshop
Shoes- All Saints (my most treasured shoe brand)

Fitzroy 'Veggie Bar'

I've managed to eat at the 'Veggie Bar' on Brunswick Street twice in 5 days. Both times - and every other time before that - the place has been full of satisfied and regular customers. This vegetarian restaurant caters obviously for vegetarians, vegans, celiacs and now bringing the culture of the raw food revolution to your table. The meals are large, hearty and usually impossible for one to consume solo. Prices are kept to a minimum which could contribute to why every season and at any time of the day the restaurant is at it's peak.  The interior co-insides with the grunginess of Fitzroy with mis-matching furniture and decor.
I highly recommend the rice balls, morrocan pizza and the wheat free chocolate cake which my friend introduced to me yesterday and would have to be the best of the best. These are just 3 items off the 3 page menu (plus specials). I would truly recommend everything if I could.

Tessellating neon clad

I had been eyeing off this Sass and Bide dress for a while before I eventually got my hands on it, and when I did it was on sale so most definitely worth the wait - even though I would've paid full price for it anyways. What attracted me to the style was the uniqueness spin-off of the currently trending 'mullet style' dresses. I don't like dressing in what everyone else does at the same time in the same way - Biggest turn off - instead I like to take ideas and treat them as the base idea of the outfit.
The tessellated pattern in electric hues captured the eye and draws attention night or day.
I spent this night on a dinner boat which my parent's organised for their company's annual Christmas party drifting to and from the Docklands to Williamstown.

My wish list

People have commented on my slightly 'dull' hues in my wardrobe so this summer I'm looking at rejecting black. These things are the minority of things on my wish list for the summer.
Scented candles - Black Milk
Yellow messenger bag - Proenza Schouler PS1
Patterned shorts in loud colours - Sass and Bide
Bikinis - Zimmerman
